Lionel Messi’s real estate holdings are as impressive as his record-breaking career, forming a key part of his growing $850 million fortune. While his legendary run on the pitch has earned him over $1.6 billion, the 38-year-old soccer star’s savvy investments in luxury real estate and hospitality are fueling the next chapter of his wealth.

As chairman of Edificio Rostower Socimi—a company recently listed as a real estate investment trust (REIT) in Spain with a valuation of $232 million—he owns seven hotels, commercial real estate, and an enviable collection of luxury homes spanning Miami, Europe, and Argentina.

Messi’s seven Ballon d’Or awards—the most ever given to any player—are just one part of his legend. After scoring a record number of goals for Barcelona over two decades, making a splashy move to Paris Saint-Germain, and now taking Inter Miami to new heights, Messi has become a global icon with an income and lifestyle to match. Forbes named him the highest-paid athlete in both 2019 and 2022, and he’s spent those earnings wisely, turning his winnings into tangible assets.

Off the field, the Argentinian World Cup champion’s taste for the finer things continues with a car collection worth around $3 million, reportedly headlined by a $1.5 million Pagani Zonda Tricolore. Add in two Ferraris—a F430 Spyder and a F355 Spider Scaglietti—and a Maserati Gran Turismo MC, and it’s clear the footballer knows how to ride in style. He also has an impressive watch collection that includes grails by Patek Philippe, Jacob & Co., and Rolex.

From sprawling Mediterranean compounds to waterfront mansions in South Florida, Messi’s real estate ventures showcase the savvy side of this sports titan. Below, we break down the star’s most impressive properties and how he’s crafted a luxury lifestyle off the field to rival his footballing feats.

    • Barcelona

Before Miami, before Paris, Lionel Messi’s real home base was in Castelldefels, a quiet coastal city about 15 miles outside Barcelona. He bought the property in 2009 for around $2 million—right as he won his first Ballon d’Or—and spent the next decade-plus turning it into a private compound tailor-made for family life and downtime. Over the years, he poured in millions more, including snapping up the neighbor’s house (reportedly because they were too loud). Today, the estate is estimated to be worth roughly $7 million.

Set in the posh Bellamar neighborhood, the home has all the essentials: a gym, spa, home theater, swimming pool, and a backyard soccer field where Messi played with his three kids. There’s even a full-on jersey room—housing more than 50 framed shirts—and a personal gym decorated with Muhammad Ali posters and step machines. With its no-fly-zone location and it being just a 20-minute drive to Camp Nou, the estate offered the privacy and proximity Messi needed during his years with FC Barcelona.

    • Porsche Design Tower

Messi entered the Miami real estate game in 2019 with a 4,400-square-foot unit on the 47th floor of the Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach—one of the city’s most elite addresses. Reports note he owns at least two units in the 60-story tower, valued at a combined $10.3 million.

His 47th-floor residence features 3,555 square feet of interior space and a curved ocean-facing terrace outfitted for a private pool, summer kitchen, outdoor dining, and lounge area—all overlooking Golden Beach and the Atlantic. Designed with privacy in mind, the tower is famed for its car elevator that whisks residents (and their vehicles) directly into their units.

    • Regalia Building

In 2021, Lionel Messi and his family snapped up the entire ninth floor of the Regalia tower in Sunny Isles Beach for $7.3 million. The ultra-private, 46-story building features just 39 residences—each a full-floor layout with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, and Golden Beach.

Messi’s unit spans 5,500 square feet inside, with four bedrooms, five and a half baths, and floor-to-ceiling windows. A 2,100-square-foot wraparound terrace mimics the building’s wave-inspired design, offering 360-degree views and ample outdoor living space. The tower is also home to other high-profile residents, including Grant and Elena Cardone. With no reports of the unit being leased, the Regalia condo remains a likely home base for the Messi family.

    • Trump Royale

After dipping into Miami real estate, Messi doubled down with several investment buys at Trump Royale, a 55-story beachfront tower at 18201 Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles. He reportedly picked up two to three units in the building around 2021, with prices at the time totaling roughly $1.8 million.

Part of the Trump International Resort, the property spans over 1,000 feet of private beachfront and offers five-star hotel-style amenities—including pools, a spa, concierge service, and valet. Among his purchases were units on the 40th, 41st, and 43rd floors—likely investment properties rather than primary residences.

    • Argentina

In 2022, Lionel Messi returned to Rosario, Argentina—the city where it all began—to build what’s widely known as the Fortress, a sprawling family compound on the outskirts of town. Set across three adjoining plots in a private, gated estate, the mansion reportedly includes between 20 and 25 rooms, a full-size cinema, a state-of-the-art gym, and an underground garage with space for 15 cars.

The property, which took several years and an estimated £3 million (about $4 million) to complete, is thought to be Messi’s future primary residence once he retires from football. The design balances luxury and function, with separate guest quarters offering direct access to the gym and theater, and a top-floor playroom dedicated entirely to his kids.

Inside, furnishings were sourced from Milan, Paris, and Israel, and the entry hall greets visitors with a dramatic floor-to-ceiling portrait of Messi’s iconic No. 10 Argentina jersey seen from the back.

    • Ibiza

One of Messi’s most recent real estate acquisitions is a sprawling mansion on Ibiza’s west coast, near the exclusive Cala Tarida cove. Purchased in 2022 from Swiss business tycoon Philippe Amon for £9.5 million ($12.6 million), the 20,020-square-foot Mediterranean paradise features eight lavish bedrooms capable of accommodating up to 16 guests, making it ideal for family and friends. The estate sports standout amenities, including a massive swimming pool, a private outdoor football pitch, and a large basement.

In August 2024, the property made headlines for a different reason: it was broken into and vandalized by climate activists. The incident came amid ongoing permitting issues tied to unapproved garage construction, which had already delayed the home’s certificate of occupancy. Despite these setbacks, the mansion remains a vacation retreat for Messi and his family, who are frequent visitors to the island.

    • Paris

In September 2022, Lionel Messi reportedly began renting a $21,000-per-month home in Paris’s upscale Neuilly-sur-Seine neighborhood. While not much is publicly known about the property, Messi’s family occupied two floors totaling around 300 square meters. Its prime location—less than five miles from Parc des Princes, home to his former club Paris Saint-Germain—made it the perfect base during his time in the City of Light.

    • Fort Lauderdale

In 2023, the same year he joined Inter Miami CF, Messi dropped $10.75 million on a modern waterfront estate in Fort Lauderdale’s exclusive, guard-gated Bay Colony. Set on nearly half an acre with 170 feet of frontage along the Intracoastal, the two-story home spans over 10,500 square feet and offers eight bedrooms and 10 baths in total.

Highlights include a Murano glass chandelier in the dramatic foyer, a sunken living room with black velvet walls, and a sleek Italian kitchen with an eat-in island and breakfast nook. Outside, there’s a resort-style pool, spa, and dual docks. The 1,600-square-foot primary suite comes with gold wallpaper and a private balcony, naturally.

    • Cipriani Residences Miami

This spring, Messi sealed deals on several luxury condos at Cipriani Residences Miami, the hospitality brand’s first U.S. residential tower. Among his acquisitions was a coveted home in The Canaletto Collection—a limited run of six penthouses and 68 ultra-luxe residences perched atop the building’s top 18 floors, offering total privacy and 360-degree views of Miami’s skyline and Biscayne Bay. Residents enjoy exclusive perks like priority access to Cipriani’s private speakeasy.

This 80-story Brickell tower features 397 sleek residences designed by Arquitectonica, with interiors curated by 1508 London. Amenities include Cipriani dining services, a private restaurant, resort-style pools, and a spa. Prices started at $1.7 million, with Canaletto Collection homes beginning near $7.5 million.
