The Killers’ Dave Keuning Lists Los Angeles House for $14 Million

Professional rockstar Dave Keuning picked up a Los Angeles home almost four years ago and subsequently undertook a renovation. However, “Somebody Told Me” the seven-time Grammy-nominated co-founder and lead guitarist of The Killers has decided to sell his revamped residence in the Outpost Estates enclave of Hollywood Hills, asking a speck under $14 million. David Parnes, Sam Collins, and James Harris of Carolwood Estates share the listing.

Records show Keuning and his longtime interior designer wife Emilie paid Grindr app founder Joel Simkhai nearly $9.6 million for the modern Spanish villa set high atop the Sunset Strip, which is about $500,000 below the $10 million Simkhai originally wanted. It’s also a million bucks less than the neighborhood record of $10.5 million that was set when the tech mogul bought the property in 2017, right around the same time he sold Grindr to the Chinese-based gaming company Beijing Kunlun Tech in two deals worth roughly $250 million.

Nestled on more than one-third of an acre secured by a gated brick motor court, the white stucco and terracotta-roof structure was built in the late 1980s and has sweeping views spanning from Downtown L.A. to the Santa Monica Bay from its lofty perch. Inside, more than 8,300 square feet of living space on two levels is accessed via a soaring wood-beam foyer that flows to a spacious living area sporting a stone fireplace and steel-framed French doors spilling out to the backyard.

Another living area decorated with an embossed tin ceiling and a fanciful light fixture abuts an office equipped with built-in bookcases, while a stylish eat-in kitchen outfitted with ebony-hued cabinetry and top-tier Wolf and Miele appliances connects to a fireside sitting area and dining room beyond. Elsewhere is a vaulted movie theater, plus a posh upstairs primary suite flaunting a Murano glass chandelier, fireplace, wraparound balcony, and marble-clad bath equipped with dual vanities, a soaking tub, and glassy shower.

The picturesque grounds are studded with tiered gardens and host a freeform pool and spillover spa flanked by a barbecue station and fire pit lounge. Rounding it all out are dual garages, as well as a detached hillside studio holding a recording space with a private sound booth (sadly, the guitars are not included as part of the sale).

In 2018, the Iowa native purchased a $5 million home in the hills of Los Feliz before flipping it the following year to BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti. More recently, records show he sold a house in the beachside community of Cardiff-by-the-Sea near San Diego and a condo in Las Vegas, where the band was formed by Keuning and Brandon Flowers back in 2001.
